Meal Planning QQI Level 5 – Castlebar Campus

This module aims to equip the learner to plan and produce a range of menus taking into account nutritional requirements, special dietary needs and current nutritional trends

Learners will be able to:

  • identify principle nutrients found in food, the role of nutrients in the body, their impact on good health and their role in relation to illness
  • list common food allergies and intolerances and identify ingredients relevant to various food allergies
  • apply nutritional knowledge to creative menu planning, while considering the need for variety and balance in ingredients, flavours and textures.

Examination fee of €20 is payable for non medical card holders for certification of the course. If you have a valid medical card you will be exempt from the examination fee but a copy of this must be emailed on application to
