Entry Requirements:

The learner who has either successfully completed a programme leading to a level 5 QQI Certificate in the social care/disability sector OR

can demonstrate the levels of knowledge, skill and competence associated with NFQ level 5 will be eligible to apply for entry to this programme.

Course Duration:

This is a one-year full time course and runs from September to May.

Detailed Course Outline:

Disability Awareness 6N1975

This module equips the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence, in the models and types of disabilities and the legal and social structures and services in place to accommodate disabilities at national and community level and in the workplace

Person Centred Planning 6N2206

Explores the theory and practice of Person Centred Planning and holistic and interdisciplinary approaches used to implement person centred planning in a specific workplace context.

Rehabilitation Practice 6N2196

This looks at the theory and practice of rehabilitation to work independently and or take responsibility for the work of others in applying best practice as a rehabilitation practitioner

Communications 6N1950

This facilitates the learner to acquire excellent communication skills which will enable active and effective participation in vocational and personal life

Work Experience 6N1946

This module provides a detailed theoretical understanding of a general supervisory nature of the work placement in the vocational area. Students complete a minimum 10 days/60 hours in a relevant Care setting.

Mental Health Awareness 6N2209
