We offer a fresh and vibrant place to study and our aim is to ensure that lifelong learning opportunities are available to all. Students on our PLC courses may receive Level 5 or Level 6 awards which are nationally recognised and which are a stepping stone to further study or training. While many of our students go directly into the world of work, increasing numbers progress to higher educational opportunities.
Our student population is made up of a mix of both young and mature adults – all with a diverse range of life experiences behind them. Our highly qualified, dedicated and supportive staff take a holistic view of every student, such that each student is given the best possible opportunity to reach his/her full potential. It is a very friendly and welcoming environment and there is a great relationship built up over the course of the year between students and college staff. This makes for a positive approach to learning. Everyone has a voice in Mayo College of Further Education and Training and the students elect a Students’ Union annually which gives the student population a chance to get involved in a leadership role and discuss student issues of the day. They often organise fundraising activities or social activities for students throughout the year.
