Award

Successful completion of this course will result in a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture 6M20486.  This course is also known as the ‘Green Cert’ for taxation purposes.

Entry Requirements

QQI Level 5 in Agriculture, Horticulture, or equivalent.  Exemptions may be granted to mature applicants.  Entry is subject to interview.

Course Duration:

This is a one year, full time course running from September to May.

Entry Requirements:

For mature students these requirements need not apply and applications will be considered based on a proven interest in organic farming.
Entry will be subject to interview.

Fees

There are no fees to study this course.

Career Options

The course is suitable for people seeking employment on farms or working on their own farms. Graduates of the course are eligible to:

  • Transfer to linked courses at Institutes of Technology through the Higher Education Links Scheme
  • Farm Manager in the Beef/ Sheep Sector
  • Gain employment on a farm either in Ireland or Aboard
  • Run and manage their own farm enterprise at home

Fees:

Once you have applied online you will be called for an interview within a few weeks. QQI examination fees cost €50, although Medical Card holders are exempt from paying this fee on production of a valid medical card. Books and essential class materials may also be required.  A €100 Student Services fee also applies.
