Angela Horan joined Westport College of Further Education in January 2016, delivering modules on the Healthcare Support course: Nursing Theory & Practice and Care Skills. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse form Roehampton College of Nursing Education in South West London in 1992.  Post her General training, she went on to Specialise in Orthopaedic Nursing completing a post graduate qualification in Orthopaedic Nursing at Lord Mayor Treloar Hospital in Hampshire England. Angela went on to complete 12 years in the trauma/elective Orthopaedic setting in the UK and Ireland, both public and private settings.

Angela completed a Bachelor in Nursing Studies at Trinity College in Dublin in 2000. In 2002 she went in to education in the clinical setting and progressing on to lecturing at 3rd Level in GMIT-Castlebar, delivering on the undergraduate and add-on programmes. In 2008  she completed a Masters in Nursing Science through the Royal College of Nursing in London – awarded by the University of Manchester. Angela’s masters research was published in 2009 in the Journal of Orthopaedic Nursing examining the activities and attitudes of the Community MDT in relation to osteoporosis and prevention and management. Angela completed a Post Graduate Diploma (Level 9)  in Design and Validation in Further Education  and Training in 2021 at Maynooth University  and is currently studying for a Doctorate in Education at Trinity College Dublin with a research  focus of Mature Nursing Students in the FET sector.
