Successful completion of this course will result in a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Community Health Services, 5M4468.
This course offers comprehensive training for participants interested in working in the Retail Pharmacy Sector. Students will gain a knowledge of science-based subjects, IT skills, ‘Over the Counter Medicines’ and customer service experience.
This is a full-time one-year course which runs from September to May.
A Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied or equivalent is required, although exceptions are given to mature students who are over 23 years of age. Entry is subject to interview.
There are no fees to study this course.
Students will study the nutritional composition of food and the effects of food and nutrition on an individual’s health and personal wellbeing.
The anatomy and physiology module equips students with the knowledge, skill and competence to understand the structure and function of the human body and the interrelationship between its systems.
Generate documents and apply a range of text formatting features, templates, mail merge, labels etc.
The retail selling module is designed to give students the knowledge and skills to confidently in a range of retail selling environments.
This module will give students the customer service and administration skills necessary to carry out reception related tasks and operations as a front line representative in a range of organisations.
Telephone techniques, dealing with difficult customers, consumer legislation and equality legislation etc.
The aim of this module is to provide students with the competence and knowledge to provide and maintain a safe working environment
Work Experience placement in a related vocational area is an integral part of this course. Students must obtain work experience placement themselves..
