Catherine is a Science Graduate of NUIG. She holds a BSC and H. Dip in Education. Catherine taught in McHale College, Achill and St. Brendan’s College, Belmullet where she worked as a Science teacher. She joined the Westport staff in 2003 when it was a second level school.
Catherine is the Course Coordinator of our Animal Care Programme and teaches Animal Anatomy and Physiology, Mathematics, Animal Behaviour, Animal Welfare, etc. Catherine organises many trips for the students on this course to places such as Ballycroy National Park, Dublin Zoo, Bertra Beach for the ecology of the locality and Horkan’s Pet World for observation of exotic animals, etc. Catherine is also an active member of our Pastoral Care team.
Her hobbies include botany, with a special interest in the local flora as well as succulent plants from Mediterranean areas. She also has an avid interest in art as well as travel.
Her community involvement includes committee work with St. Mary’s Church, Westport as well as serving on the Parents’ Association at St. Columcille’s School, The Quay, Westport.
