Equine Nutrition Level 5 – Westport

This programmed module aims to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to understand the equine digestive system, the composition of food and equine nutrition. It facilitates the learner to develop an awareness of the nutritional requirements of the horse. The learner will explore theoretical concepts of horse nutrition and apply them to practical situations, becoming competent in the use of a range of feedstuffs and understanding the complications that may occur. The module explores digestive system of the equine and the health consequences of an unbalanced diet.

Examination fee of €20 is payable for non medical card holders for certification of the course. If you have a valid medical card you will be exempt from the examination fee but a copy of this must be emailed on application to [email protected]
