Through a combination of hands-on practice and theoretical knowledge, students will gain proficiency in office software, web authoring, e-business strategies, and financial systems. This course will provide them with the flexibility to work in various sectors, including e-commerce, finance, customer service, and IT or progress to further/higher education.

Course Content

  • Communications
    Develop strong communication skills, both verbal and written, which are essential in all professional environments. This module focuses on effective communication techniques in business, customer service, and virtual collaboration.
  • Work Experience
    This module provides students with the opportunity to apply their learning in a real-world business setting. Through industry placements, students gain practical experience and build professional connections. (All students will complete 60 hours in a work experience placement as part of their studies on this course).
  • Web Authoring
    Learn how to design, develop, and maintain websites using modern web authoring tools. Students will gain skills in HTML, CSS, and other web development technologies to create functional and visually appealing websites.
  • E-Business
    This module focuses on the integration of digital technologies into business strategies. Students will learn about e-commerce, digital marketing, online payment systems, and the tools businesses use to operate in a digital environment.
  • Payroll (Manual and Computerised)
    Gain expertise in payroll systems, both manual and computerised. Students will learn how to process employee pay, calculate taxes, and manage payroll records accurately using payroll software.
  • Bookkeeping (Manual and Computerised)
    Learn the fundamentals of bookkeeping, both traditional and computerised. This module covers financial record-keeping, journal entries, balance sheets, income statements, and the use of accounting software to manage finances.
  • The Internet
    Explore the power and potential of the internet in business. This module covers topics like internet browsing, email communication, search engines, and online tools that can help increase business productivity.
  • Word Processing
    Master word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word) to create, edit, and format professional documents, including reports, letters, and other office communications.
