Understanding and Assisting Children with Additional Needs Castlebar Campus

The purpose of this module is to provide the learner with an introduction to the knowledge and skills relevant to the theory and practice of inclusive education and care of children with additional needs in the early learning and care (ELC) setting, looking at the rights of children with additional needs and those of their families and relevant legislation and best practice guidelines. The Learner will learn how to create an accessible, inclusive experience for the child with additional needs in the ELC setting in line with best practice guidelines and framework, Explore the importance of working as part of a team, as well as engage in reflective practice.

  • January: 18th, 25th (6.30pm-9.30pm)
  • February: 1st, 8th, 22nd, 29th (6.30pm-9.30pm)
  • March: 7th, 14th, 21st (6.30pm-9.30pm)
  • April 11th (6.30pm-9.30pm), 18th (6.30pm-8.30pm)

Examination fee of €20 is payable for non medical card holders for certification of the course. If you have a valid medical card you will be exempt from the examination fee but a copy of this must be emailed on application to [email protected]
