Eilish began her teaching career with Mayo VEC (now MSL ETB) in Moyne College, Ballina, in 1998. There she taught a variety of business and IT related subjects at both Post Primary and PLC level.
In 2000, Eilish transferred to Westport Vocational School (now Westport College of Further Education), where she coordinated the Business Studies Secretarial (now Office Administration) PLC course. In 2003, Eilish was appointed as Assistant Principal in the school, and took over responsibility for the coordination and development of PLC courses therein. In 2005, Eilish was appointed to her current position as Deputy Principal, with responsibility for PLC coordination, FETAC Quality Assurance, Accounts, IT and College promotion/publicity.
In addition to her Deputy Principal’s duties, Eilish teaches a variety of IT modules to the Office Administration class and Healthcare modules to the Healthcare Support (with EMT) class. Eilish also teaches some general modules to various other classes in the College.
Having a passion for pre-hospital emergency care, Eilish is also a qualified EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) and is a volunteer and Instructor with Civil Defence, where she holds the rank of 1st Officer. She is qualified in a variety of disciplines in the organisation including First Aid, Search & Rescue (land and water), Communications, Welfare, Auxillary Fire Service and Flood Defence.
In her spare time, Eilish loves spending time with her family, swimming, cycling and exploring the great outdoors.
